Happier and healthier living with a gluten free regime

A generation with a health concious

A new way of thinking

Is Gluten-free really the way to go? I'm not sure about that. I personally follow a gluten free diet cause I have to..But many follow it cause they think it will make them skinnier? Seriously! people gluten free food has just has much calories as regular gluten food, I put up an article on Gluten Free Listing Directory about this subject..and it goes like this ;-)

Quote:
" This generation is mainly concerned with health and wellness. This is the reason for the proliferation of the many programs and products that promote good health and well-being. When it comes to diet, there are different programs that help in getting rid of or preventing the accumulation of deadly toxins in the body. There are also diets and lifestyles that make sure that body systems are not exposed to ingredients that can be harmful to the body organs. This includes gluten free living "

This is true, weather your are allergic to gluten or not, gluten is not that good for you, it wont make you fat but it can affect the small intestines. A relative of mine was hospitalized cause is small intestine was severely damaged and he now has a drainage bag, did I mention he's only 50yrs young! I remember how many time he would criticize us for eating gluten free and saying how gluten-free foos doesn't taste good and all.. Anyhow we he's bad shape and it could of probably been avoided..

Quote:
" The question is why would you have to get rid of these foods with gluten ingredient? Why should you shift to gluten free living? The answer is simple. Gluten is not good for the body. Specifically, it destroys the lining of the small intestines and damages the healthy bacteria that take care of these intestines. Villi and probiotics will no longer be able to protect and take care of your digestive system if you allow gluten to enter your body through the foods mentioned. If the small intestine is damaged, you will experience irritation in bowel movement. You can suffer from mood swings and depression. You can suffer from skin irritation and rashes. These are the celiac disease symptoms that you should avoid by being on a gluten-free diet. "

All though I am a very healthy eater and carefully select what I eat and what I don’t, I haven’t been caught up in the gluten or not gluten dilemma. I guess it is because gluten hasn’t affected me yet. I do eat lots of wholegrain products (Ezekiel bread and tortillas for example, whole grain pasta and rice) but don’t have a clue as to which one has gluten in them. I would need to have much more information about gluten to take decisions, so thanks for your brief introduction to the topic that has encouraged me to look into it further.
